What does Charley’s Grilled Subs® look for in a franchisee?
We evaluate individuals based on business experience, individual motivation and a track record of success. Financially, candidates must have liquid assets of at least $100,000 and a minimum net worth of $300,000 (liquid assets are cash and/or any other commodities that can be easily converted to cash).

What makes Charley’s Grilled Subs® unique in the sandwich segment?

  • Superior taste!
  • Everything from Charley’s fresh grilled subs to made-to-order salads to our signature lemonades is made fresh, right in front of the customer.
  • Charley’s uses only premium-quality meats and fresh vegetables to produce our award-winning grilled subs, gourmet fries and signature lemonades.
  • Charley’s quick service stands apart from the traditional fast food eateries by offering freshly produced made-to-order foods in 90 seconds or less.

Where are Charley’s restaurants located?
There are well over 350 Charley’s franchises across the country. We have locations in 39 U.S. states and Canada and around the world (now in Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, U.K., Kuwait, Venezuela, Guam, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE). We are in retail venues, strip centers, airports, in mall food courts, on college campuses and military bases.

What is Charley’s franchise and royalty fees?
There is a one-time franchise fee of $24,500 for a single unit. You will need $100,000 in liquid assets and a $300,000 net worth to qualify for any financing secured through third-party lending sources. Charley’s does provide recommended lenders but cannot offer direct financing. Charley’s has established professional relationships with both local and national third-party lenders for our potential franchisees to interview.

How much are the royalties and other fees?
Royalties are 6 percent of gross sales. National advertising is 0.25 percent of gross sales. Franchisees are required to spend 3 percent of gross sales locally promoting their restaurant.

How are Charley’s Grilled Subs® locations selected?
Selecting a site is an important and exciting process undertaken jointly by you, as the franchisee, and Charley’s. We train you on specific site criteria and provide you with a list of qualified commercial realtors who specialize in finding productive retail/restaurant locations. After your potential site has been identified, we will visit the location, review it and evaluate it together.

What kind of support does Charley’s offer?
Teamwork is the backbone of Charley’s support system. From site selection and construction to training, marketing and operational support, Charley’s corporate support team works together to "Help our Franchisees succeed by providing a simple restaurant system and continuous improvement to help satisfy our customers."
